The Freedom in “No.”

I have finally come to the realization of how powerful the word NO can be. Before I start, I won’t say that I’m a yes person or that I go along with everything, but for the most part I’ll admit that I have done things in the past to appease the ones I care about. Yes, as Christians or in any area of life, we are called to serve others but I have learned that with everything, there needs to be a balance. You can’t say yes to things that take away from who you are or things that are draining to your soul. I have learned that it’s okay to say no, essentially people are going to feel how they want to feel regardless of how you may try to nurture their feelings. It’s okay to turn down invitations, it’s okay to not pick up the phone if the person calling steals your peace, it’s okay to say NO. At the end of the day, if you say yes to something you actually don’t want to do, or go somewhere you didn’t want to be invited to, you not only risk not being true to your self and not having any fun, but others can also feel that energy and you might potentionally ruin their time by having them worry about how you’re doing the whole time. Stay true to yourself.
